6’2 Styles Phipps might be the most underrated guard in the class of 2024. The 6’2 guard really has a classic, all around PG type of game. His high IQ, feel for the game and playmaking abilities are next level. If you appreciate good basketball and players who play the right way, you will fall in love with Styles’ game at first sight. He’s not extremely strong, athletic, or fast but it's almost like Phipps uses that to his advantage to keep defenders off balance. Phipps has an extremely quick first step and good change of pace which makes him difficult to guard. He stays composed and poised as a primary ball handler and doesn’t let the defense speed him up. He loves to use his handle to get downhill and penetrate the defense. Once he gets in the paint he has the ability to finish over and around defenders with either hand, or find teammates with no look dimes and lobs to the rim.

His understanding of pace, spacing and angles make him a lethal scorer. Styles has a natural shooting stroke and can get his shot off from various spots on the floor. Whether that’s coming off curls, pin downs or getting to his spots off the dribble and shooting over recovering defenders. Phipps also has an uncanny knack to make bank shots off the dribble, a skill that I haven't seen many players possess regardless of the level. The touch and feel he possesses along with the balance and deceleration to make such difficult shots is a valuable skill at the next level. In a class full of scoring guards, I believe Styles stands out with his unique playmaking ability. He’s able to make quick reads and has great timing when passing through traffic, often seeing plays before they happen.

Phipps currently holds offers from Grand Canyon, Washington, Missouri, Washington State, Auburn, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego, Portland, TCU, Hampton and Western Illinois. He has high major talent and I expect his recruitment to pick up rapidly over this upcoming season.
