Justin McBride, the 71st ranked player in our 2023 rankings,  has verbally committed to coach Mike Boynton and Oklahoma State. He will be joining 4 star Brandon Garrison, 3 star Jamyron Keller, and Connor Dow.

Justin McBride was a major piece to the Drive Nation EYBL team this summer who qualified for the Peach Jam play in tournament.

In this article, I breakdown McBride's game and how I see him fitting into Oklahoma State's system his freshman season.

Player Breakdown

McBride is a 6’7 small ball stretch four. He is a 3 level scorer. He can shoot the ball off the catch or dribble consistently. He is an impressive ball handler for his size. He also is a goo finisher at the rim. This summer he averaged 13 points, 5.0  rebounds, and 1.0 assists this summer for his Drive Nation team. He elevated his game by averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds in Peach Jam. In one game scoring his high 33 points and shooting 5-8 from three point range.

How he will fit in at Oklahoma State his freshman season

McBride will earn his minutes with his versatility. He will be able to see the floor and stay on the floor by spacing and stretching the floor with his shooting skills at his size. He will also be able to stay on the floor with his ability to defend  positions 1-5. I believe many minutes will come off his consistency. He will have to improve on facilitating more and creating for his teammates. Overall, McBride has the body of a college level player, and with his skill he will be able to make an immediate impact.
