Elijah Duval, a top 50 prospect and 4-star recruit in the class of 2024, has seen his stock rising instantaneously this summer.

The younger brother of former Duke University point guard Trevon Duval, being an elite floor general runs in Elijah’s blood, but he’s trailblazing his own path.

Duval’s recruitment is rapidly picking up, holding offers from Georgia, Cal State Bakersfield and Bethune-Cookman, he’s becoming a household name in grassroots basketball. Going into his junior season, expect to see and hear his name in abundance. Coming off a stellar sophomore campaign, averaging 18ppg & a state title run, don't be surprised if his stock continues to rise over the course of his high school career.

In this exclusive interview, Duval breaks down his summer playing EYBL with Nightrydas Elite, his goals for this upcoming season at Martin County (FL) and his recruitment.

How was your spring/summer playing on the EYBL circuit with Nightrydas this year?

Elijah Duval: “It was a great experience, definitely way different than playing on the UA circuit last summer. Teams are better and more competitive, the environment is just different. NBA guys are always around in the gym and watching your games. Playing amongst a lot of highly ranked guys, every night you’re competing against a talented team.”

Being this was your first summer on the EYBL circuit, in what areas would you say your game improved the most over the summer?

Elijah Duval: “I would have to say my passing and playmaking abilities. Playing with Nightrydas, I was playing with other really good players. I wasn’t the only scorer or the main scorer on my team. I had other guys who could score and are really high IQ players, so I trusted them to make plays.”

As a sophomore with Martin County you won a state championship last year. After that experience and the summer you just had, what is your mentality going into your junior season?

Elijah Duval: “I would say we’re just trying to prepare for everything that comes our way. Getting our new guys to really buy in and getting accustomed to the system. We have some good guys coming, good freshmen coming in. Staying disciplined, we’re not really focused on last year. It's a new year, a new road. We’re trying to win it again.”

What did you learn from this past grassroots season that you feel like can help you for this upcoming HS season?

Elijah Duval: “I feel like my playmaking and leadership will definitely help me. Getting the new guys to come in and make sure they’re confident. Make sure I can trust them, but that they also trust me to make the right pass and right decisions so when the heat comes we aren’t scared, we’ll be ready.”

How has your recruitment process been so far and what schools have been the most consistent?

Elijah Duval: “UGA was my first official offer, but I have a lot of schools reaching out to me now. The schools that have been most consistent are Arkansas, Kansas State, South Carolina and LSU. They have been in constant contact with me for some time now.“
