Mouhamed Dioubate, a 4-star prospect out of the class of 2023 announced his top five schools today. Alabama, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Wake Forest made the cut.

Dioubate watched his stock rise this spring and summer, playing with the PSA Cardinals (NY) on the EYBL Circuit. He displayed all levels of his game and proved to be one of the best rebounders in the country.

In this in depth interview, Dioubate breaks down each of his top five schools, his progress over the grassroots season, and his goals for next season at Putnam Science Academy (CT).

You had a very successful grassroots season with the PSA Cardinals (NY), talk about your time with them

Mouhamed Dioubate: "I have been working for this, even before the AAU season started. Not to sound over myself but I saw myself being here. I had a really good AAU season. I was in the gym with my coach and my trainer and it helped me with my success this season and I enjoyed it."

You had some monster performances throughout the season, which game was your most memorable?

Mouhamed Dioubate: "I had a couple favorite games I'm not going to lie. One of the favorites was our game against Expressions in Kansas City. We needed that game to make Peach Jam. So I went off that game because we wanted to make Peach Jam."

Going into this past grassroots season, was there a part of your game that you wanted to improve?

Mouhamed Dioubate: "I would say my ball handling, but mostly my shooting. It was really about the opportunity given to me to show what I could do. Being put in certain positions and situations to showcase what I can do."

Goals for you senior season at Putnam Science Academy (CT)

Mouhamed Dioubate: "Just to get better and get ready for college. Work on my grey areas, which I have been working on, but just trying to perfect everything. Also go win another championship and keep it going. I really want to get the guys around me better as well. We have to push each other that is the real goal."

Recruitment

How was the overall recruitment process been going for you?

Mouhamed Dioubate: "It feels great. As most people know who have been through this process it is not easy as some people think. I cut my list down today and took some time for me and my mentor and my family to go over it. It is the right time for me to do it."

Breakdown of his top five schools

Alabama: " What I really like about them is the player comparison they gave me. They said I could be like Herb Jones. I really like the ultimate plan they have for me. That is what I like about Alabama. The coach seems really cool."

Wake Forest: "I had a zoom call with the coaches a couple days ago. They really like me. They have been staying in contact a lot. The head coach says he likes my game a lot. He could see me playing at the next level after college and stuff like that."

Kansas State: "They are one of the schools that have been on me the most. Even before Peach Jam they have been in contact with me the whole time. The coaches were at all of my games. They like dogs, they like real dogs."

Maryland: "They like New York City guys a lot. I was talking to the head coach a lot. He was telling me how he likes my game and how he can see my game expanding. I think that could be a good place for me to go."

Virginia Tech: "Coach Webster, what I like about him is he stays in contact with me, even not during the AAU season. He came to a lot of my games. He stays in contact with my coaches and with my parents. Virginia Tech, they really love me. Coach Mike Young he likes my game."

Timetable on decision?

Mouhamed Dioubate: "I don't have a date set yet, but I am hoping to commit by the end of the fall."
