RJ Jones, a 6'3 shooting guard who will attend Wasatch Academy (UT) this upcoming high school season, has just verbally committed to Head Coach Jerome Tang and Kansas State.

Jones picked the Wildcats over Oklahoma, Cal, and Texas A&M. After Kansas State offered Jones, they went after him hard. The staff and Jones built a tight relationship, which led to Jones committing today.

With his shooting skills and size, I believe Jones will adjust well to the college level.

Below you can find the in depth player breakdown on RJ Jones, plus how he fits into Kansas State's system.

Full Breakdown

Jones is one of the premier shooters in the class of 2023, so when he arrives at Kansas State, he will be ready for the next level. In college you have to be able to knock down shots and Jones can do that at a high clip. His size helps him offensively as well. His long arms and broad build help him create space from defenders and shoot over them. Jones can also finish at the rim. He uses the pump fake a good amount to get defenders off their feet and then makes a strong move to the rim. His floater is very useful as well.

What does he bring to Kansas State as a freshman?

Jones brings a high level of shooting to Kansas State his freshman season, which will help him stay on the floor. I see Jones shooting a lot more catch and shoot shots, rather than creating one off the dribble. His IQ also will help him get a good amount of minutes. Jones always makes the right play and rarely takes a bad shot. He will have to work on his game defensively before getting to Kansas State. Jones will have to guard smaller and quicker guards at the next level so his quickness and lateral movements need some improvement. Playing in then NIBC this high school season will prepare Jones for his freshman season at Kansas State.
