OFFENSE

Offensive Role: Faceup / Play finisher

Strengths:

Ultra talented big with skill. Illustrates a fluid, easy looking shooting stroke. Comfortably steps into threes on the move. Can make them when contested. Pick and pop potential 12-19 from 3pt range for B-Maze Elite 16’s in 2019. Great rim runner. Good feel for which angles to take to the basket. Not limited to wide open dunks. Good touch driving to the basket. Length makes close range shots easy for him. Can adjust on the fly. Can shoot or drive out of a face up. Isn’t limited to scoring in a stationary position. Bodes well for his upside as a post player. Flashes as a passer are encouraging to see. Only going to become a smarter player in the future. Positive Assist / Turnover ratio. Rated in the 97%ile as a cutter, via Synergy.

Weaknesses:

Don’t fully trust him to push the ball in transition. Makes some boneheaded mistakes in the full court and holds on longer to the ball than he should. Believes he’s a marksman already from deep. Allergic to the paint. Very frustrating prospect. His tendency to settle for three’s rather than playing inside is concerning and makes him less efficient. His love for mid range jumpers is infuriating. Doesn’t shoot them at a good enough clip and opts to take them over rim attempts when given a cushion. Have yet to really see him operate in the post and go to work down low. Doesn’t seem keen on establishing position down low. Content with floating to the perimeter.  Just 4 post up possessions for B-Maze Elite 16’s in 2019 (2.5% of his offensive profile).

DEFENSE

Defensive Role: Switchable

Strengths:

A very capable defensive big if he’s engaged. Light on his feet with the agility to defender quicker players in spurts. Switches his hips smoothly. Brings value as a rim protector. Solid frame, long arms can alter shots at or away from the rim. Sneaky good hands. Solid one on one post defender.

Weaknesses:

He just floats. Leaves a lot to be desired right now in terms of effort and rebounding. These are two areas that he should be a lot more productive in given his physical attributes and level of competition. Averaged around 4.5 rebounds per game vs UAA competition. Ability wise, he’s agile enough to make the switch in PnR situations, but the effort and technique is just too inconsistent. Not going to give up his body for 50/50 balls. Caught standing straight up. A step behind mentally. Doesn’t rotate as quickly as he should. Needs to get back on defense faster.

Athleticism/Frame:

Physical specimen. Elite measurements at 6’10” 230 lbs. Long arms, long standing reach. Has shot up in terms of physical growth yet has lost none of his coordination. Runs end to end well. Decent vertical athlete and he’s still developing bounce. Needs to gain more short area quickness to make better defensive rotations.

Additional Info:

Swing factors: Mentality, physicality, motor

Mentality overview: Smart player. Talent is never in question. Has the motor issues of a 2000 Mustang Cobra. Pretty car, but he’s not tapping into his full potential.

Grade: High Major
