OFFENSE

Offensive Role: Floor Spacer / Play Finisher

Strengths:

Energy big who brings great versatility at either 4 or 5 spots. Legit floor spacer. Very clean looking, even beautiful looking stroke. Rare to see a big man with such good-looking shooting form. Mechanically, there’s no wasted movement, and he has a quick release. Strong sample size. 36% 3pt shooter (49-137) over the course of his high school career. Intriguing PnR/PnP potential. Imposes his will physically. He can take similar athletes off the dribble and use his brute strength to pressure the rim. Excels as a rim runner thanks to his athletic gifts. Makes for a good lob target and possesses a nice set of hands. He does a nice job of sealing off defenders. In the paint, he has a good touch and can finish at different angles. High upside tail.

Weaknesses:

Will need improvement as a screener not just in ball screens but also in other half court sets requiring strong, effective screens. Doesn’t always set his feet. Kind of frantic moving without the ball. Needs to be more purposeful to create more opportunities for himself. Not much experience in terms of slowing the game down. Raw post player who will need to add to his toolbox over time. Touch doesn’t always translate to the free throw line. Will have to improve this aspect of his game in order to maximize his offensive potential.

DEFENSE

Defensive Role: Switchable

Strengths:

In theory, he should be able to guard multiple positions thanks to his gifts.. Plays hard and gives consistent effort on the defensive end. With a few adjustments, he can make the switch on the perimeter. In terms of athletic traits, everything is present. He’s physical and will have no issues fighting down low. Has really good hedge ability with his straight line speed and quickness. He’s quick to get back on defense in transition. Pretty active and engaged with what’s going on. Solid motor. Gets the break started with productive rebounding. Crashes the glass and skies for rebounds out of his area.

Weaknesses:

Raw defensively, but he can be taught. Can be exploited down low. It has nothing to do with physical tools but more so his lack of technique. Positioning as a post defender needs work. Pretty easy to get around using a spin move/drop step. His footwork needs fine tuning on the perimeter. Instead of turning his hips, he stays square resulting in blocking fouls or passage to the rim. He has more lateral quickness than he’s letting on because he plays on his heels in space. Can get lost as an off ball defender on the perimeter. Must become more alert as a team defender. He primarily face guards which is a surefire way to get cooked. Prone to getting back cut. If there’s an incoming screen, he’s toast. Don’t know how much value he’ll bring as a rim protector. Doesn’t have elite reaction or length.

Athleticism/Frame:

Stands at 6-foot-9 with good muscle mass. Super functional and conditioned athlete. Very strong. Plus vertical athlete and gets off his feet in a hurry. Quick second jump. Fast straight line speed for his size. Very coordinated. Runs the floor well. Dual sport athlete as a pitcher in high school (+).

Additional Info:

Swing factors: Post play, free throw shooting, team defense

Mentality overview: Plays with energy. Likes to work his way inside then out. Competes on defense.

Grade: High Major
