OFFENSE

Offensive Role: Simplified

Strengths:

Hyper-fluid 3 and D prospect who has some spot creation ability. Tantalizing in terms of natural talent. Best position long-term is a 4 where he can attack mismatches as well as space the floor. Good decision maker in transition. Understands spacing. Can put the ball on the deck. Flashes some high end creation off the dribble. Glides to the rim with long strides. Blessed with long arms and shows it with a nice finger roll. Has a soft touch on his jumper. Range extends to the 3pt line. Very high release. Gets air under his feet. This makes him a viable mid range shooter. Flashes potential as a shooter off the dribble. Plus offensive rebounder. Has good instincts on the glass. Less than ideal HS situation. Will see a spike in productiveness as he gets better playmakers around him. High upside tail.

Weaknesses:

Must improve his handle and ball security. Will fumble the ball because he’s going a step to fast. Still a loose ball handler. Has more of a full court handle. Question his ability to beat defenders off the bounce or even attack closeouts on the perimeter. Suspect burst/explosion is why he defers to pull up inside the arch. Not a consistent shooter from deep quite yet. Lack of physicality is concerning. Shies away from contact in the paint. The finishing skill itself is there, but he needs to go up stronger. Disappears too often and leaves you wanting more. Production still needs to catch up with his talent.

DEFENSE

Defensive Role: Versatile

Strengths:

He’s very toolsy -- long, moves fluidly, and has solid feet (though he doesn’t have very quick feet). Does a solid job of contesting with nice footwork keeping players in front. Uses his length to his advantage and blocks or at least affects quite a few shots away from the basket.  He can also change directions on top of that although not consistently. Positionally, he’s very solid when the half court play is slow to develop. If he’s locked in, he’s able to fight through ball screens and still recover with his range. Shows some flashes of movingGood reason to be optimistic as most of his defensive issues can be coached.

Weaknesses:

Still raw and learning the mental and team aspect of defense. Was injured for most of his HS sophomore season. Needs to become a better team defender as a  whole. Misses on interior rotations. Ball watcher in half court. Must become a more reliable help defender. Too many free passages inside because he doesn’t fill in as the plug. Perimeter defense is hit or miss. A bit too upright in his stance. Not the quickest to react. Shows some flashes of moving laterally but has to turn and run rather than sliding. Has to get stronger. Has his issues defending bigger players.

Athleticism/Frame:

Great eye tester. 6-foot-8 with outstanding fluidity and body control. Thin frame with narrower shoulders. Good leaper, but he has slower reaction time as a defender / rim protector. Pretty mobile but needs to gain more quickness and explosion, especially as a horizontal athlete.

Additional Info:

Swing factors: Consistent shot-making, ball handling, motor?

Mentality overview:  Wants to stick as a perimeter player but he’s best as a 4. Isn’t always in it defensively.

Grade: High Major
